About

I am forty, married with kids and a mini-van.  I am a writer.  A teacher.  And I like to laugh a lot, but I forget that most days because … well … I’m forty, married with kids and a mini-van.

Abundance isn’t a word I use a lot in conversation.  It’s a word I feel when I’m stirring up pancakes on the weekend.  Or when the only thing on my to-do list is playing with a frog on a summer afternoon.  Or when I look around the house and see surfaces covered in debris–a phone bill, Legos, glitter glue, keys, Barbie’s shoes–and wonder why parenthood is just a fancy word for picking up other people’s crap.

Conflict, chaos, anxiety live alongside an abundance of clarity, simplicity, joy.  I’m fascinated, even amused enough to want to write about it here.

  1. Hello friend,

I am not a writer, but I am a reader and love your short stories. Through your short stories over the years (I guess those years quantify as a decade now….) I have picked up, what I feel is, quite a bit about making our writings (emails) as descriptive as possible, with a purpose and a bang. Also, to be very selective about the exclamation points 😉 . I really enjoyed your reference to parenthood being a glorified word for picking up others people crap, literally sometimes!
